Codename, also referred to as 3 and formerly known as Codename 3, is one of the three members of The Otherworld, serving as one of the two secondary antagonists of Super Mario: Gate to the Multiverse alongside Codename 2 and the main antagonist of Super Mario: Beyond The Bounds. He is an artifact from the Super Mario Bros. 3 reality, who ended up in the Multiverse Hub, joining the Otherworld and attempting a takeover of the multiverse. However, as Future Mario came back in time to prevent it, the plan failed, and Future Mario ended up beheading Codename and killing the rest. Codename, who had extra lives, came back, but due to the red moon, his head was permanently detached and he reconnected it with a wire. He made deals with MX and Mr. L, and eventually came back to face Mario and his crew. He managed to kidnap Luigi and Toadette, and attached them to a machine along with Unfair Mario and the betrayed Mr. L and Cherry. However, they were freed due to a glitch caused by Unfair Mario, and in the final battle, he was shot by Cherry and died, giving MX and Syobon instructions to keep themselves alive. After Future Mario spoke to his dead body and left, he respawned but was impaled by Pixel himself, removing his last life and permanently killing him.
He is a variant of Mario3 due to him being an artifact of him.
Appearance[]
In Gate to the Multiverse, Codename is based on Mario's appearance from Super Mario Bros. 3 but with a purple hue and blank eyes.
In Beyond The Bounds, Codename's clothes appear more worn and textured, and his overalls are ripped slightly. His neck is covered in dried blood and is stitched on with a metal wire thanks to how he was killed by Future Mario. While using the Charged Otherworld Cherry, his palette changed to that of Codename 2.
